North End Connect – Intern Posting

North End Connect is a community-led project that focuses on making internet and technology accessible for our community. We are looking for community members to join our team. This role is an opportunity to gain hands-on experience in computer refurbishment, contribute to environmental sustainability, and learn more about North End Connect.
This position is a partnership with Computers For Schools Manitoba and will be housed out of their office at 18 Terracon Place. The intern position runs for 6 months with opportunity to join the North End Connect team full-time after the internship is completed.
Wage range: From $16.00 to $17.51 per hour (Full-time)
Office hours are 8:30am – 4:30pm, Monday – Friday.
Responsibilities:
1. Computer Refurbishment:
o Inspect, clean, and refurbish donated computers and related equipment.
o Perform hardware upgrades and repairs, including installing new components such as memory, hard drives, and peripherals.
o Install and configure operating systems and software applications.
2. Quality Assurance:
o Conduct thorough testing of refurbished computers to ensure they meet quality standards.
o Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues to ensure functionality and reliability.
3. Inventory Management:
o Assist in cataloging and organizing incoming donations.
o Maintain accurate records of refurbished equipment and parts inventory.
4. Recycling and Disposal:
o Identify and properly recycle computers and components that are beyond repair.
o Ensure compliance with environmental and safety regulations during the disposal process.
5. Support and Training:
o Provide guidance and training to youth interns participating in our hands-on skills development program.
o Collaborate with staff to develop and improve refurbishment processes and procedures.
