Connect Humanity has published a new report looking at the digital barriers that civil society organizations, and the communities they serve, face. Based on survey responses from 7500+ civil society participants across 136 countries, it surfaces a range of issues, including around access, affordability, digital skills, policy, and funding for digital equity efforts.

While 95% of respondents said the internet is vital to their ability to do their work, three in four said that a lack of internet access, tools, or skills limits their ability to serve their communities effectively.

The report’s message is clear. Not only is the internet today a basic right, it is critical to the success of all civil society organizations. As with all other rights-based struggles, civil society must play a leading role to make digital equity a reality.
